Fun things to do in Birmingham, Alabama with the Kids
There are lots of great places to visit with kids including the Science Centre, Sloss Furnaces, Birmingham Zoo, and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
Birmingham Zoo
A popular attraction for families and kids of any age. Birmingham Zoo is home to a wide variety of reptiles, mammals, and birds from around the world. The zoo houses over 950 residents and many of these are endangered species. Throughout the day the zoo has plenty of fun and interactive shows. Children can take a ride on one of the many rides at the zoo or stand close by a giraffe.
Vulcan Statue and Museum
Birmingham’s national industrial heritage with fantastic views from the top of the statue. The Vulcan statue is one of a kind and the largest cast-iron statue in the world. The 56-foot statue depicts the Roman god Vulcan.
Birmingham Museum of Art
A great place to visit for art lovers and including the outdoor sculpture garden. Home to over 20,000 works from contemporary to ancient art. The largest collection of art across the globe. The museum also hosts American decorative arts containing over 2000 pieces, a collection of vases, vessels, fine silver, furniture, and porcelain.
Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum
Founded by the racing driver George Barber. The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum first opened in 1995 with an assortment of vintage motorcycles. Great place to visit for families with children that love and appreciate vintage cars and their history.
