Tudor Place Historic House & Garden is a treasure trove of American history nestled in the heart of Washington, D.C. This historic landmark offers families a unique opportunity to delve into two centuries of stories from the descendants of Martha Washington, as well as the enslaved and free individuals who once lived and worked here.
Located on 5½ acres in the charming neighborhood of Georgetown, Tudor Place is a stunning example of Federal-period architecture. Within its walls, you'll find an impressive collection of over 18,000 decorative objects, including the largest Washington Collection outside of Mount Vernon. The historic house is accessible only via guided tours, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging experience for visitors of all ages.

Feel free to take a picnic meal but be sure to remove all trash. There is no water fountain available on site at Tudor Place so bring water.
What should families know before visiting Tudor Place?
Tudor Place is open for guided house tours & self-guided garden visits. Advance registration is required for house tours. If you are just visiting the garden, when you arrive just check in at the Visitor Center to receive a ticket and garden map. No advanced registration is required for a garden only visit.

Is Tudor Place fully accessible?
The garden is accessible from the city sidewalk (without steps). Its surfaces consist of grassy areas and paths laid with pea gravel, flagstone, bricks and stones set in grass. The first floor of the Historic House can be made accessible for wheelchairs and other needs. Call 202-965-0400 if you have questions or would like assistance in making arrangements, including accessible parking and having ramps in place upon your arrival.
