Not only is this a facility for schools to visit, but it's open to the public - and families just like yours! On your visit, you can enjoy programs that cover a wide range of subjects, but they aren't your regular programs! At the Wilderness Station, you learn through campfire programs, and interpretive hikes, and river explorations. Pretty amazing!

Did you know that at the Wilderness Station there are a whopping 275 acres of back country area ready to be explored via hiking trails? In fact, there are around 5 miles of trails, which start at the Wilderness Station, and offer paved portions through the hardwood forest. These lead to a very cool River Overlook and the campground!

Keep an eye out for the wildlife along the way, including turkeys, bobcat, deer and even Barred Owls!

The TreeMendous Tree Trail is super fun too, and runs along the first 0.7 miles of the paved trail. There are twelve stations that feature along it, and each marked by a number. Just grab the Tree Trail map and learn all about the very cool plants you are seeing along the way!
