Choo choo - it's history time! But kids, this isn't your average history lesson. Nope! With V&T Railway you get to learn all about the historic steam train routes of Nevada - by actually riding them!
From May to October the whole family can experience a fascinating journey through the Virginia Range. Along the way, you can experience wild mustangs, once bustling mining towns and the Overman Open Mining Pit.
Don't worry about the history lesson, because these yours are fully narrated so you can learn all the fun facts without even trying! You just have to take in the 24 mile round trip. When you get to Virginia City, you will have a couple of hours to take in that amazing town.
For something different, you can try the Carson River Canyon tour! There are Carson River and Canyon views for you to take in, and appetizers to enjoy. These are special Saturdays 5 times a year - you won't want to miss out!
Across the year the V&T Railway also have Theme Trains, which are super fun for the family! Enjoy a tasty BBQ Dinner with the Dinner & Melodrama Train where you can enjoy 45 minutes as you steam into Carson River Canyon.
There are fun Labor Day trains, and the very popular Polar Express Train Ride with characters and entertainment to bring the story to life. Santa might even make an appearance!
They have Mothers Day specials, Fathers Day specials and Memorial Weekend rides too with music and food...just to name a few!
History really does come to life with this fascinating ride ON history. Choo choo!

They have done an amazing job of preserving this part of Nevada history! The locomotives are beautiful restored.
I’m Hungry! Can I get food at V&T Railway?
Water is available to buy on the train, but keep the train preserved by not eating on the trip. Food is available at the depots too but must eaten before boarding.
Any top tips when visiting?
Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, a hat for sunny days and bring a jacket if it's cool
Does V&T Railway have a gift shop?
There are plenty of gifts to buy in Virginia City! There are shops, and old time saloons!
