About USS Midway Museum
Prepare yourself for a lifetime memory aboard the USS Midway Museum! You'll explore a floating city at sea and relive nearly 50 years of world history aboard the longest-serving Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th century.
Admission includes a self-guided audio tour to 60 exhibits throughout the historic aircraft carrier and 25 restored aircraft. Now THAT is pretty cool!
Exhibits range from the crew's sleeping quarters to a massive galley, engine room, the ship's jail, officer's country, post office, machine shops, and pilots' ready rooms, as well as primary flight control and the bridge high in the island over the flight deck.
Kids can really use those imaginations as they walk around the various galleries decks, imagining what life would have really been like on the USS Midway.
Especially popular are the museum docents you'll meet throughout the ship. Each is eager to share a personal story, an anecdote, or amazing statistic, adding to your amazement throughout your adventure. (Most visitors spend 3-4 hours aboard Midway!)
Family oriented activities for all ages are also at the USS Midway Museum, including the very cool flight simulators!

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at USS Midway Museum?
All that exploration can be hungry work! The Midway’s Fantail Café is the perfect place to grab a bite and enjoy a great San Diego view during your Midway visit. From fresh salads and fun snacks to tasty sandwiches and hearty burgers, the Fantail Café’s menu has options that will satisfy the whole family!
Any top tips when visiting?
Their Photo Team will help you take an iconic souvenir photo when you enter the ship upon your visit. Once your photo is taken, they will provide you a slip to take to the Photo Center located in the center of the Hangar Deck. Browse through various backdrops and take home a Midway Souvenir Photo package to remember your visit for years to come!
Does USS Midway Museum have a gift shop?
The Midway’s gift shop is centrally located on the hangar deck where sailors once repaired jet engines! The Jet Shop offers a selection of U.S. Navy and USS Midway apparel, historic and children’s books, fun San Diego souvenirs, unique USS Midway memorabilia, and more!

They have plenty of options for kids, including Docent led tours, overnight adventures, youth programs and more!

Is USS Midway Museum fully accessible?
The Midway is a retired aircraft carrier commissioned in 1945. Since their start as a museum, they have made many modifications to improve accessibility for guests with mobility difficulties or other challenges. With the addition of several elevators and access routes, approximately 60 percent of the Museum’s exhibits are wheelchair accessible.

Admission includes a self-guided audio tour for you and your family. The audio tour brings Midway’s history to life and adds a personal touch to what it was like to live onboard a floating city at sea!
