About this activity

Want to walk in Custer's shoes? Or how about camp! Custer's Gulch Campground and RV Park lets you camp on the same spot that General Custer actually did way back in 1874 during his expedition to the Black Hills! It was the location of their permanent camp.

The park has over 60 full service sites right in the beautiful South Dakota wilderness. Custer may have camped here 125 years ago, so you won't run into him, but there's a good chance you'll run into the newest residents - including elk and deer!

If you are taking your family out to Custer State Park or the historic Custer City, Custer's Gulch Campground is an ideal location to base yourself in.

They are also near the famous Mount Rushmore! Bonus points for whoever can name the presidents who feature there!

Nature lovers and active families will be in their element, with hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, golfing (deep breath there's more!), wildlife viewing, scenic drives and ATV riding all ready and waiting to be enjoyed!

Crazy Horse Memorial and Wind Cave National Park are also within close reach.

The campground has all the modern amenities you will need, including full hook ups, dump station, camp fires, a club house and toilets, and you may be deep within the trees but you still can be assured free wifi!

They also have horseshoes and volleyball for those active kids, and if you don't have an RV and prefer the more basic camping adventure, you are more than welcome!

Just think - what would Custer do!
