About this activity

How about visiting a place where you can enjoy an aquarium, planetarium AND a natural history museum ALL under one roof! Welcome to the California Academy of Sciences!

Whatever your interests, this incredible Academy based in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park is designed to engage and inspire like no other museum on the planet.

Not only is the building, itself, a stunning architectural achievement but the new Academy contains multiple venues, hundreds of unique exhibits and nearly 40,000 live animals.

Yes, you read that right!

Let's start with the aquarium, shall we?

Kids, how do you fancy coming face to face with over 900 animal species, enjoy hands-on exhibits AND see the world's LARGEST living indoor coral reef?

Check out the Steinhart Aquarium exhibit!

Make some time to check out the Osher Rainforest, where you can step inside a living four-story rainforest, which is home to free-flying tropical butterflies and birds!

The aquarium is great for shows, tours, and yes, adorable Penguin Feeding at 10:30am and 3pm daily! They also have Swamp Talk at 3:30pm daily.

The animal adventures can continue with a visit to the planetarium, with the Expedition Reef show. Here you can take a dive into the breathtaking beauty of the coral reefs in this original planetarium show.

Throughout the rest of the California Academy of Sciences, kids can learn about evolutionary history, weather stations, the color of life, and see an all-digital dome that displays one of the most accurate and immersive Universes ever created!

Pretty incredible!

Animals, space, natural history, and a great family day out in California. What more could you want!?
