Here's a fun fact for you! Did you know that Buttonwood Park Zoo was established all the way back in 1894, and is actually the 12th oldest zoo in the entire USA? 

Pretty amazing! Think of all the families that have created great memories over all those years, and now it's your turn!

Buttonwood Park Zoo is home to animals from all over North America - and it may surprise you the range of amazing creatures that you can find so close to home! Of course, if you want to explore a little further afield, make sure you check out the creatures that are found all around the world. It's a great learning experience for the kids, as they learn what creatures look like, where they live, and their life cycles!

Kids can come face to face with the adorable Asian Elephant, or the proud cougar. They can meet playful river otters, or watch the playful primates in action!

They can learn about animals they had never heard of before (do you know what a Milking Devon is?), or marvel at the many birds Buttonwood Park Zoo have, including owls, vultures, hawks and eagles!

The zoo also offer a range of programs to enhance your zoo experience. You can see how zookeepers provide enrichment activities to keep the zoo's animals active and healthy, and learn about biofacts and how animals live in the wild from the friendly staff!

If that wasn't enough, the zoo also has a fun Wildlife Carousel that you can take a ride on, or you can jump on the Zoo Train for some locomotive fun! At a small extra cost, it makes a great addition to your WILD day out!

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Buttonwood Park Zoo?

It's not just the animals that need lunch! The Bear’s Den Café is a great option for a snack or a full meal. The Bear’s Den Café is currently open daily from 10am – 4pm.

Any top tips when visiting?

If you have small children, you should check out the Toe Jam Puppet Band which performs every Monday (outside, weather permitting, otherwise held inside). The cost is $5.00 per family plus zoo admission.

Does Buttonwood Park Zoo have a gift shop?

North Woods Gift Store is the place to grab those gifts and souvenirs that you will love!
