About Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Did you know that Birmingham Botanical Gardens is actually Alabama's LARGEST living museum? That's quite a feat, but when you visit you'll see why it has achieved such an honor.

This wonderful day out for the kids is open 365 days a year, and is always free entry so there's not reason not to visit and have a great day out in nature!

There are a number of different types of gardens for you to enjoy, so no matter if you love the science behind plants, or just the most colorful, there will be something amazing for you to explore.

The Gardens of Collections feature the Asian Glade, home to a number of selected species, cultivars and hybrids of plants from Asia in a lightly-shaded setting with broad wood-chipped paths.

There's a garden that illustrates the important role that crape myrtles can play in landscape design, as well as a 3.5-acre garden features the broad diversity of hybrid rhododendrons and azaleas in all its glory.

Stroll through the beautiful rose garden, or enjoy time in the shade of the fern glenn.

Then, at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens you have the Gardens of Culture, with a fascinating vegetable garden, and an enabling garden whose numerous features were designed to make gardening a comfortable experience for those with physical disabilities.

Also one of the most popular in any botanical garden, the Japanese Garden - a 7.5-acre site which is actually an interwoven collection of gardens built in the Japanese style, replete with traditional architectural and garden elements.

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens also host a number of events throughout the year, AND offer tree guided tours, so really so much to see! Are you ready to enjoy a day in nature at Alabama's largest living museum?
