About this activity

Come to Geevor Tin Mine as you discover the rich mining history and the last mine to work the family St Just Mining District, the largest group of undersea mines in the world! It's a family-friendly attraction where history is brough to life with a read underground experiences, demonstrations and stories. 

Experience what it was like to be in a real mine as you go underground and walk through the tunnels that were made hundreds of years ago. Have a go at panning for gold and find colourful gemstones. You'll get to keep what you can find!

The Hard Rock Museum is home to lots of exhibits about metal mining in Cornwall. There are hands on and interactive displays for you to enjoy that helps the kids learn in a fun and exciting way.

Listen to the recordings of miners telling their stories in their own words and watch a short film as the experience comes to life. 

The Dry is a moving experience and you'll discover the atmosphere of the change room, that's left almost exactly as it was on the day the miners came up to the surface for the last time.

You can also explore Geevors largest preserved mining site in the country and explore the buildings and machinery and see it all in action. 

After your visit browse the gist shop and pick something up to remember your visit by or take a pit stop in the cafe with lots of tasty homemade food.

Please wear sensible clothing and footwear to visit Geevor. The site is high on the Cornish cliffs, overlooking the Atlantic, and can be subject to the whims of Cornish weather!

Geevor Tin Mine offers an inspirational trip for any age group. Hands on practical activities in a truly authentic setting makes this cross curriculum site an invaluable learning experience.

For those with limited mobility or who want a shorter visit, Hard Rock Museum, housed in a former workshop building, is Geevor in a nutshell and has been designed to be a complete experience in itself. It contains an accessible lift, accessible toilet, plenty of room to manoeuvre around the exhibits, lots of hands on activities and a film.
