Went to the “Chuck Close – Prints, Process, Collaboration” exhibit on level 3. The choice of materials chuck used is quite fascinating, there’s a self portrait of himself which he printed in tapestry and I loved the depth and contrast it brings out, almost as if the picture is sticking out of the tapestry. There’s also another piece where there is an elongated image on the ground and the image displays correctly on a mirror. Great exhibit. Always enjoy my visits to the MCA.

The MCA looks great since its refurbishment. I came here for a preview behind the scenes look at the Close to Chuck exhibition. The exhibition was well laid out, with good descriptions of the work. The curators did an excellent job. Only the special exhibitions have a cover charge, the rest of the galleries are free.

The best Museum in Sydney for art lovers. This place has some great installations and always has some exhibit or artist feature on. The museum has free entry for all levels except the showcase exhibits which have an entry fee. The rooftop cafe is great for resting those tired feet, sipping some tea and soaking in the stunning harbour views. Or you could lie in the grass and soak up the sun in the MCA lawns after your visit. It is a must visit for any Sydney visitor who loves art.

How wonderful that you can wander through this world-class museum for free (mostly). They have really interesting collections that change just enough to keep each visit fresh. The shop and cafe are also great, and the building itself is almost a work of art. One Friday a month the MCA remains open until 10pm, with music, performances and a bar!

The MCA is a must-see for any visitor to Sydney. Even if you are not a huge fan of contemporary art, the exhibitions here have a broad appeal. There needs to be a bit more frequent turnover of exhibitions as I sometimes come back and the same pieces are all there but the work is still very high quality. The best part about this place is the balcony cafe. This has one of the best views in Sydney, the food is good and the prices are reasonable given the location.
