About this activity

The Contemporary Art Gallery promotes knowledge and understanding of contemporary visual art through: exhibitions for varied audiences that address current issues in contemporary art and place the work of Vancouver and Canadian artists in the context of art internationally.

There's a regular program of talks, discussions, workshops, performances and events that offer insights into the world of contemporary arts. For families, there's lots to engage you in! Open Studio is a monthly program for young visitors and families, based on the current exhibitions. Workshops can vary from sound walks, finding culture and drawing practices which are guaranteed to get the imagination going.

The gallery also offers opportunities for schools to visit too, which will not only help them gain an appreciation for contemporary art but will learn lots too. There are guided programs which allows for creative learning and encourages problem solving and communication.

The atudio art workshop combines art making activities with an in-depth tour of the exhibitions which is great for younger children. Make sure to check out the website before you visit so you know what's happening where and when!
