Wild times in Indiana!

Wild times in Indiana!

Here's a list of some fun family adventures if you are looking for the wild side!! High adventure for sure at Wolf Creek Habitat and Rescue in Brookville, where – so long as one follows the rules – older kids and adults may enter the enclosure and safely interact with the pack! It’s a friendly family business actually on the grounds of their home, with excellent safety records and reviews.

The Red Wolf Sanctuary in Rising Sun is also dedicated to the preservation of North American wildlife, though it should be noted that the titular Red Wolf is their emblem and mascot: the majority of the wolves are grey, with one red hybrid. Other animals found here for observation include foxes, coyotes, cougars, and bears, plus hawks, eagles, owls, and a vulture. There is also a raptor center and an educational look at the ecosystem.

Wolf Park in Battleground again features the iconic predator, as well as bison, coyote, and foxes. Daytime visits are all well and good but if you catch a Night Howl session that's even better: the audience is seated on bleachers and encouraged individually to howl at the wolves and hear them return the call, while staff interacts with the pack in front of you. For a less predatory wildlife experience try the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo.

As well as the main enclosures, included here is a Family Farm animal petting facility, Tree Top Trail, African Journey safari fun, plus Dr. Diversity’s Research Station with hands-on researcher roleplay using microscopes and more. There are a number of entertainments too including Train, River and Pony Rides, plus the Sky Safari and the Endangered Species Carousel.

Plus at the Washington Park Zoo in Michigan City get up close and personal with tigers, monkeys, bears, alligators, otters, and much more, being sure to stop off at the unusual rotary castle reptile house, the 70-foot tall observation tower, and the walkthrough Australian Adventure aviary.

And Joe Huber's Family Farm is a great one for the smaller or less focused kids, with activities (in addition to the animals) including 40 ft tunnel slide, giant Jenga, tetherball,  tot's play area, and Billy Goat walk, plus wagon and pony rides, inflatable slide, cow train, apple toss, and corn maze!
