Although the pens and buildings are closed to the public, you can still witness the hustle and bustle of a working farm in action, providing valuable insights into farm life.

For a break, head to the open-air historic hay barn at the north end of the farm, where you can enjoy a picnic at one of the many picnic tables. If you're visiting on the morning of the third Saturday of the month, don't miss the chance to tour the Deer Hollow Farm Nature Center. Located in the old apple shed, an original building from the 1850s, the center is filled with hands-on exhibits reflecting the diverse plant and animal life of the Rancho San Antonio area. A knowledgeable docent will be on hand to answer any questions your curious little ones might have.
