About Utah Museum of Fine Arts

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) is located at the University of Utah and is such a wonderful way to immerse the family in the global world of fine arts.

Across the galleries and exhibits, children can discover everything from ancient objects to the latest contemporary works. In fact, the UMFA galleries showcase the incredible breadth and depth of human history and creativity - your children might just come away inspired to create their own work!

The collection of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts is home to nearly 20,000 original works of art, and is considered the most dynamic in the region, and a hub for cultural exchange for on-campus students as well as the community.

As children walk around the exhibits, they might see them as conversation starters, offering them a fresh take on the world, which is invaluable!

There are ongoing exhibitions which are drawn from the permanent collections, as well as temporary exhibits from all around the world so there will always be something new to head back to see!

In addition, the UMFA also hosts talks and panels, as well as gallery tours, and even art making classes (and other creative activities!) for families and children!

Featuring fine art from Europe, the Pacific, Japan, Africa, China and more, the UMFA is about more than objects—it’s about helping all who visit connect in meaningful ways to great art and ideas, as well as to the fascinating history of human culture and creativity, all at your own pace.

Don't miss the interactive stations along with the many wall texts that share up-to-date research and can inspire your own interpretations.

No matter how young or old, where you're from or what you know, what's truly special about works of art is that they are one-of-a-kind human creations telling unique stories, evoke memories, inspire conversations, and open possibilities!

Who knew a museum could do so much!
