I’m writing this from a hotel room on a night that I was supposed to be camping but like every other person in the tent camping area, we were flooded out. Our entire site was under water after an hour of rain. As we were trying to get our stuff out of the tents we were attacked by mosquitoes even worse than the three nights before. So this review is to warn you that if you are staying in the primitive sites, pray that it doesn’t rain or bring your ark.

3.5 stars. Nice park. Well kept. Trails were well done for the area with boardwalks over the swampy sections. Gives a good view of Louisiana in those parts. Seems to be a weekend spot for locals that like to party (RV section). Heard coon dogs all night in the distance (comes with the territory).

TRULY LOVE THE SPLASH PARK IT IS SURROUNDED BY TREES WHICH KEEPS IT SHADED, YET WITH ALL THE TREES COMES WILDLIFE – BEES AND EVEN RATCOONS. THE BATHROOMS ARE CLOSE. THE NATURE CENTER INSIDE IS NICE BUT NEVER UPDATES. THE RANGERS ARE NOT VERY FRIENDLY AT THE NATURE CENTER, YET THE RANGERS ENTERING AND LEAVING THE PARK ARE VERY NICE, AND HELPFUL. THE PARK DOES HAVE A PLAY GROUND BUT ITS SORTA SET BACK. MY SUGGESTION IS NOT TO GO TO ALONE. THE NATURE TRAILS ARE VERY NICE YET AGAIN NOT BEST TO GO ALONE WITH THE KIDS DUE TO THE TRAIL CLIFFS. I HAVE NEVER CAMPED HERE BUT TRULY LOVE THE CLEANNESS OFF THIS PARK.

My sweetie and I have stayed in campgrounds all over the USA, and this one ranks with the best. It is a little hard to find, follow the directions on their web site. Our space is paved, with a large decking patio. The grass must extend at least 30 feet in both directions, between us and others. The buildings look to be 20 years old or so, but well maintained. In our space, we are surrounded by large trees making satillite TV impossible, but who cares, with scenery like this. It’s quiet in the morning and In the afternoons and evenings there are kids everywhere having fun. Be sure to make reservations, on Reserve America.
