The Mattatuck Museum is ready and waiting to give you a creative and inspiring family day out in Connecticut, as it collects and exhibits American art as well as cultural history, with a focus on the Naugatuck Valley, AND the local artists of Connecticut.

Those artistic children in the family might love to explore and be inspired!

As you walk around the collections, you can explore the unique connection between art and regional history with artifacts spanning the history of American art, from right back to the colonial era to present day.

The collection features over 8,000 objects including unique works on paper, paintings, photography and sculpture, with the early America and Modern galleries featuring paintings from as early as the 1900s!

Here's an interesting fact about the Mattatuck Museum - it's actually recognized for its collection of buttons, which are a group of 20,000 miniature works from ALL around the world!

In addition to the permanent collection, the Mattatuck Museum features over 25 changing exhibitions of art and history every year, so there is always something to see at "The Matt"!

This one is for the over 21s, but worth a mention - MATT By Night is the Museum’s series of after-hours events for 21+. They welcome students, young professionals, night owls, socialites, history or art lovers to experience interactive adventures in a casual and fun setting!

There is a museum shop where you can pick up a range of gifts and merchandise related to the exhibits & local history, from prints to books and great gifts!

They offer Summer Youth Art, plus Youth Programs, so check out the website and give them a call to check out field trips!
