It’s a good value for the Midwest. If you want to compare it to Colorado, of course it won’t match up. But if you don’t want to drive a long way or spend a lot of money, it’s very possible to have a fun day at Mt Kato. We encountered friendly people and a nice family atmosphere.

Let me preface my review with … there are NO other options for skiing within two hours of Mankato (Welch Village is 2 hours away,) so this is the best you’re going to get for South Central / South West Minnesota.Overall very short runs and very very old hand-me-down equipment from Afton Alps… including stomp in bindings on the rental snowboards.Food is microwaved and overpriced (re: standard chalet fare.)Runs are very very short. Not a run over 2 minutes in length even if you slalom from edge to edge of the green runs. You’ll spend more time of waiting in line and riding the lifts then you’ll spend on the hills.Best deal is go Wednesday during the day to get a 9:30a to 4:30pm lift pass for $22.I had a blast while I was there, but that was because the second half of the day there were only 8 people (and 4 cars in the parking lot) on the entire hill.

What a great place for outdoor winter fun in Southern Minnesota. They did a fantastic job keeping the trails nice even this non- winter! Staff are really friendly and instructors are great. Food is really great at The Lift upstairs. I agree the burgers are Awesome. It’s fantastic to have this in our back yard!

Best snow in minnesota. Ive skied all the areas this year and Mt Kato is the best. Their ticket prices are the most reasonable of the true ski areas.Try the burgers in the bar, its one of the best!
