During your time exploring the Milwaukee Art museum, you can make your way through four floors of over forty galleries, filled with 30,000 works of art encompassing paintings, drawings, sculpture, to decorative arts, and even photography, prints, video art, installation art, and textiles.
Since 1888 as the city's first art gallery, the Milwaukee Art Museum has been collecting art. Today, the Museum has grown today to be an icon for the city and a resource for the entire state of Wisconsin.
Highlights of your visit to the the 341,000-square-foot museum includes visiting the War Memorial Center as well as Kohl’s Art Studio.
This studio is a beautifully family friendly area where you can engage in hands-on art projects and really create something all your own!
This studio is a joint effort between Kohl’s as well as the Museum that brings kids and their families closer to art, a place where they can discover more about it and really immerse in creative experiences.
Drop by the studio for art making inspired by the artworks in the Museum’s collection! Projects change monthly, so there’s always something new to try!
Get to the Museum by bike, bus, or car. The Reiman Bridge, a pedestrian suspension bridge, connects the Museum campus to downtown Milwaukee. The nearest bus stop is located at the intersection of Prospect Ave and Mason Street. Bike racks are available on the Museum grounds.
The Oak Leaf bike trail passes right alongside the Museum.

The Museum Café is a great place to grab craft beverages, grab-and-go entrées, baked goods, and breathtaking views from its lakeside dining room. When weather permits, enjoy the café’s lakefront patio. Closed Mondays.
The Kohl’s Art Studio is open on weekends, 10am - 4pm
From posters to apparel, stationery to books, the Museum Store is a great place to stop by before you leave! There are some great informative items relating to the collections too
They love to have groups and students visit! Give them a call to arrange having your students enjoy an art-tastic day out!

Elevators are accessible to and from the Reiman Bridge and throughout all Museum levels. Personal wheelchairs and Segways used for mobility are always welcome. Manually operated wheelchairs are available from the admissions desk.
Store backpacks, large bags, and umbrellas in the lockers on the Café Level and in the East End.
