Lewis & Clark are a very famous part of American history, so why not spend your family day out learning all about them! The Lewis & Clark Boat House and Nature Center is right on the Missouri River (so lovely view!) in the very charming and historic St. Charles.
The museum is a fun and educational experience for kids of all ages, as the museum features exhibits all related to that historic expedition (we're still talking about the Lewis & Clark one!)
Located on the upper level of the Boat House, there are dioramas to illustrate the highlights of their journey across America, as well as displays on Native American culture that they would have encountered, as well as habitats from the Missouri River which they would have passed.
Your self-guided tours include a brochure which not only gives you all the information you need, but there are fun activities for the kids of any age!
The Lewis & Clark Boat House and Nature Center has full size replicas of the boats actually used by Lewis & Clark! When you've finished your trip around the museum, you can head outdoors to the Walk of Discovery. This part of the museum has small garden plots and a nature trail that winds through a beautiful woodland area, as well as a typical wetland marsh. All plants native to the state at the time of Lewis & Clark!
Take your camera, because there is some amazing wildlife in the area - from herons, geese, and ducks. You never know what is going to visit!
So history can be re-lived at the Lewis & Clark Boat House and Nature Center with the whole family - and journey along with Lewis & Clark themselves!
