My family visited Kennywood Park on 8/9/14. I entered the park interested in purchasing season passes and exited being grateful that the 2014/2015 ones were not yet available. The general attitudes of the employees were DEPLORABLE! The entire day only ONE person said “thank you for riding…”. Seemed to me that they were more interested in each other or their cell phones than in engaging the public. They were VERY mechanical and disinterested in what they were doing. For the money you spend I expect a MUCH better overall experience. Very low class atmosphere for a very high price. Growing up I went to Kennywood often and I was extremely disappointed in how much it has gone downhill since my last visit many years ago.

One of the neatest and well kept amusement parks in the country! If you get a chance and are near Pittsburgh this is one of those must stops that you have to make!

My wife and I haven’t been to Kennywood for several years. We went recently and were greatly disappointed with our visit. It is quite obvious that the new owners, Parques Reunidos of Madrid, Spain is exerting its influence. The Kennywood that we knew and loved over the years was always very customer service focused with plenty of employees to make each visit enjoyable. It is clear that the new owners value profitability over customer service and have greatly reduced the staff. Long lines at each concession stand where only a couple of employees were expected to serve dozens of people. From the infamous Potato Patch where you could expect to be served within 10 -15 minutes on the busiest of days in years past, you now have to wait up to an hour. In the cafeteria, after you get your meal selection, you have to wait while a single employee works to give every customer their beverages (again standing in line). We walked the entire park and every concession stand was the same, long lines and limited employees. There also used to be parking lot attendants to help with directing traffic in and out, but no more. And don’t get me started on the prices. Food in the park was always reasonably priced, but you guessed it, NO MORE. A 6″ hoagie and two small drinks, over $15. I pity families with small children that now have to endure this park. It’s a shame that this once locally owned, privately run park is now in the hands of a money-grubbing European enterprise.
