About this activity

Hidee Gold Mine is a brilliant place to visit where you can pan for gold! It's great fun for kids and adults with lots of hands-on activities where learning meets fun for a great day out!

You mine tour is lead by guides and knowledgeable local, where you'll get valuable insight into how to pan gold, as well as identifying speciments which you can keep! You get to mine directly from the vein with a hammer and chisel too. 

It's a well lit and safe environment, and average temperatures inside are 45 degree, so make sure to dress well! Tours last for around one hours, and you can get to browse the gift shop at the end and have some lnch outside the mine too! 

You can also learn the art of gold panning too! You'll have plenty of opportunities to find semi-precious gems and various metals and you'll learn with some mineral samples to. You'll get advice from serious panners and learn the techniques too. 

The Hidee sits in the heart of the Virginia Canyon - Glory Hole Area, reputed to be the richest square mile on Earth, so you'll get to experience history! 

Make sure to ask the staff some questions as they're on hand to help and tell you all about the rich history of the area.

Wheelchairs & Strollers
can have a difficult time in the mine and cannot access one area due to stairs. However, several gold ore veins are seen, all geology and history is explained and 90% of the tour route is accessible.
