About this activity

Space, the final frontier, and also the subject of your family day out if you visit the Fleischmann Planetarium & Science Center! This fascinating museum in Reno offers FREE exhibits in their exhibit hall on the main floor, so everyone can experience this amazing trip into the world of science and space!

The exhibit hall is great because as well as permanent exhibits on display, there are rotating ones, so there will always be something new for you to experience on your next visit!

There are hands-on and interactive displays which make it even easier for kids to learn all about these fascinating topics, as well as immersive displays like the large-scale rotating Earth and moon globes!

Every wondered what a black hole really is? Well, scientists themselves aren't even quite sure yet, but there is a black hole demonstrator to show you what they DO know! Kids can see a 6 foot globe which features Earth as it's viewed from space, so you can see what the astronauts themselves would actually be seeing. There's a 6 foot moon so you can see all the craters on the surface, and even a chance to see what the Sierra Range would look like if it's viewed from orbit!

Kids can learn all about gravity, our solar system, and how coo is this - you can actually TOUCH a meteorite! Pretty amazing! You can even see a meteorite found in 1908.

Kids also love going into the Star Theater where they can experience great shows that cover a range of amazingly fascinating topics like UFOs, moon hoaxes, and misconceptions about astrology.

Space - that final frontier AND that fun Reno family day out - blast off!
