The Brunswick Heritage Museum is really two museums in one (so with FREE admission, that's a pretty great day out in Maryland!) with one floor telling the story of the town built by the B&O Railroad at the turn of the 20th century, and then you have recreations of Victorian rooms which explore life in the early 1900s.
Did you know that Brunswick was known as "Berlin" during the Civil War? Well, now you do, and that's just the start of the history that you can uncover at the Brunswick Heritage Museum
You can learn all about how this small town along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal was incorporated in 1890, and only 5 years later construction of the 5 mile rail yard began that would thrust Brunswick into a development boom!
What would it have been like for the people who lived in Brunswick at that time? Well, a visit to the Brunswick Heritage Museum will answer that for you. Kids can also let those imaginations run away with them as they explore life for the railroaders and their families in the early 1900s, with those exhibits and recreated Victorian rooms.
They are also home to the Brunswick Visitors Center for the Chesapeake & Ohio National Historic Park, so you know where to head if you want your historic day out to continue!
So step back in time and explore the history and heritage of Brunswick - who knew so much history happened RIGHT where you will be standing!
