About this activity

Ray Mill Island has something for everyone!

Enjoy the Aviary and Guinea Pig enclosure, and the small play area for children aged 3-8 years. Here, they have wooden animals dotted around for imaginative play and plenty of fun. Feel free to bring a picnic and enjoy eating in the park or head to the café for a snack or lovely meal.

At the northern end of the Island, you will find Boulter's Weir, one of 50 remaining on the Thames. Managed by the Environment Agency, they maintain water levels so that boats can pass through the adjacent lock, control land drainage, and ensure that water is available for public consumption. Also feel free to check out the Millstone! Whilst clearing the stream to the rear of the island in the autumn/ winter of 2011 an old millstone was uncovered, and it’s been incorporated into the water inlet area at the head of the stream.

Finally, the island also provides wonderful views upstream of the weir and the wooded slopes of the Cliveden Estate!
