About The Exploration Place

The Exploration Place has welcomes over 2 million visitors since opening, with lots of events and exhbits to explore. They provide learning opportunities that help visitors understand the past and current issues shaping the community through regional history, science and technology. 

The various galleries at the museum explore the history of various themes. Some of the galleries include the First Nations People, the Fort George Sports Hall of Fame, The Exploration Gallery, Critter Kitchen, Nature Exchange and the Paleontology Gallery. The Children's Gallery houses skeletons, dinosaur sculptures and a dig pit. A virtual motion theater offers daily rides too! 

The Fort George Railway is Canada's shortest passenger railway and the steam engine is a must visit! It runs on a 2.2km long track in the park near the centre and is the only engine of its kind left in operation in North America. 

The centre portrays the history of Prince George and the impact that diverse groups have shaped the regional socially and culturally and environmentally. There are so many galleries and collections to explore, with regular events, programs and activities all year round, so make sure you check out the website to see what's coming up when you visit!
