Did you know that the Textile Museum of Canada is actually one of eight museums of its kind in the world and the only museum in Canada solely dedicated to the collection, exhibition as well as hte documentation of textiles from around the world?

It's an incredible museum, with an incredible collection of over 12,000 pieces that represent over 200 countries and regions. Pretty impressive!

Not only can you see the beautiful textile works of the world that reflect the many cultures that make our planet so special, but kids can also see Canadian tapestry and discover Canada's cultural diversity through cloth!

In fact, the aim of the Textile Museum of Canada is to inspire understanding of the human experience through textiles, and we think they succeed! You'll have to visit for yourselves, to see what you think!

Not only is the Textile Museum of Canada unique in what it showcases, but they are also the only museum in the country delivering programs and exhibitions dedicated solely to textile arts too. It's an invaluable and fascinating learning experience for all who visit!

The museum ignites creativity in all who visit, inspires wonder in all who visit, and sparks conversation through the stories held within their global collection of textiles. They are also active with contemporary art practices too.

The exhibitions within the Textile Museum of Canada showcase the work of local, national, and international contemporary artists, and often draw from the museum’s collection.

The Museum does not have a parking lot. However, there are several commercial parking lots within walking distance including: 63 Centre Avenue (Northeast corner of Dundas Street and Centre Avenue) Surface lot – Impark lot #39 | Hourly: $7.50

The Textile Museum of Canada is located in the heart of downtown Toronto just steps away from City Hall, Chinatown, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. They are one block east of University Avenue, south of Dundas Street

Teachers corner

Tours provide groups and schools with a closer look into the exhibitions, permanent collections, and other programs! They range from 45-minute ($100+HST), 60-minute ($200+HST) to 90-minute ($300+HST) visits, including an interactive presentation from one of the Museum’s educators with time allotted for Q&As, and hands-on activities depending on the tour length. All tours can be adapted to suit your group’s particular access needs and interests.

They are committed to engaging all visitors in inclusive Museum experiences. Maintaining the accessibility of exhibitions and events, as well as educational and creative programs is paramount. All levels are accessible by elevator. Accessible washrooms are on level 2
