The Burlington Art Centre is a champion of visual art and fine craft in Burlington. They engage the community in the appreciation and creation of visual arts and are home to art and fine craft guilds. They provide opportunities for discovery and ‘hands-on’ learning, as well as mentoring and showcasing visual artists at all skill levels. BAC is dedicated to building and promoting its collection of Canadian contemporary ceramics.
Over the last 40 years, the collection has expanded to over 4,00 works - the largest collection of contemporary Canadian ceramics in the world! There's a broad selection of work from across Canada, ranging from sculptural installations to artistic expression. You'll also find a research library containing over 2100 publications, as well as a study collection.
They also run lots of unique and inclusive art prgrames for all ages. Merging technical and critical understanding of the arts to build a deeper understanding. They also have family open studios to encourage thinking, making and learning together. Including modular sculpture, veffie print, future builders and much more! IT's for all ages and is a great chance to be creative and build your creative expression!
From Niagara or Hamilton East: Take the first exit (Northshore) at the north end of the Skyway Bridge. Keep to the right, pass the Joseph Brant Hospital and Maple Ave. Turn left at Brock Ave and make an immediate right into the driveway of the Art Gallery of Burlington. If you miss the driveway, continue to the corner of Brock and Elgin and make a right – enter the parking lot on your right.
