The Western Plains Cultural Centre is a fascinating place for the family two visit, as it will give you an insight into some amazing culture, history, and art of this regional region! There are two elements within the Western Plains Cultural Centre. First, is the Dubbo Regional Museum where the collection actually started back in someone's back shed in 1954! This museum tells the story of Dubbo, and shows the people who called Dubbo home across the years.
There are photographic exhibits that show the changing face of the city, and over 5000 objects in the collection! It's amazing as you walk round to think that all of these objects were part of someone's life, and all those faces called the very city you're standing in, home!
Then, you have the Dubbo Regional Gallery, which can give kids an experience in the art world! The galley features works on the Animals In Art theme, and have on show a range of works by artists from all across the area.
If you've been inspired, there are art classes for kids that are perfect to get that creativity out!
The Minimakers are run by rotating arts, and encourage infants pre-school children, along with their parents, to experience a number of exhibits! These FREE experiences are a great outlet and let them create their own work to take home!
They run for around 45 minutes from 11am every Thursday during school term
The alternative is Art Gang! This is the long running art classes for kids where they can develop their skills, on a Monday afternoon during school term.
It's art and culture all around at the Western Plains Cultural Centre!
Have fun kids!
