The Queensland Museum is the network’s flagship campus and tells the changing story of Queensland, covering natural history, cultural heritage, science, and human achievement.
The Anzac Legacy Gallery, the Discovery Centre and the Sciencentre are just a few of the SparkLab have been redeveloped to house permanent exhibitions. Visitors can interact with hundreds of objects, animals, and fossils in the Discovery Centre, as well as learn about Queensland dinosaurs and megafauna in the Lost Creatures Gallery, and see Queensland's unique biodiversity in the Wild State Gallery.
The Queensland Museum offers visitors an extensive variety of public programs, educational programmes, early learning experiences, and fun holiday activities. We seek to connect visitors to Queensland, its people, and its position in the world—both past, present, and future.
Over a million items are stored here in significant collections charting the regional and national cultural heritage. They have varying exhibitions of these items, plus an extensive program of events often aimed at families or children.
The museum, which has been welcoming more than 23 million visitors since 1986 when it was established at South Bank in South East Queensland, is also very popular among Queenslanders.
Queensland Museum is situated in Brisbane's Cultural Precinct, close to the Queensland Art Gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and the State Library of Queensland. South Bank, a lively mix of parkland, recreational, and commercial areas on the Brisbane River across from the Central Business District, is part of the Cultural Precinct.
Within the South Bank Museum are the Discovery Centre and The Playsaurus Place, ideal attractions for children with a fun and interactive twist on the learning environment with a great many dinosaur and environment related activities for most age groups including historical artefact touch tables. Plus they can burn off some energy joining in with the Dino Dancing show.
