The great thing about Melbourne Zoo, is that it's not just animal interactions and experiences that the kids get to enjoy. It's also a great place for kids to learn ALL about the animals we have on our amazing planet. There's no need to climb the mountains of Asia, or scour the plains of Africa. Melbourne Zoo have brought the animal world to you!
Melbourne Zoo has a host of weird and wonderful creatures. You will find your favourites such as the Asian Elephant, the fur seal, lions, meerkats, gorillas, tigers and zebras. Kids will get such an excitement seeing these animals that they have seen in pictures and books - right in front of them!
There are also creatures that the family might not even have heard of before - like the coati, the tamarin, and the bongo! See, you're learning already!
Melbourne Zoo is more than just looking at animals - it's an experience!
Growing Wild is their interactive natural style play area designed especially for children aged 3 to 8 years. There is plenty of imaginative nature themed play equipment plus the playground itself is interspersed with close up live exhibits like Meerkats, Giant Tortoises and Brush Turkeys, reptiles and insects.
The Keeper Kids playspace lets kids experience what it would be like to work at a zoo as a keeper, and they can stimulate their imagination and connect with nature.
The Butterfly House lets kids roam among hundreds of beautifully coloured butterflies, Wild Sea is the zoo's biggest exhibit letting you explore the ocean, and the Orang-utan Sanctuary lets you explore this fun treetop home!
