Right...you there...come here and show me your bag...oh, a criminal I see!
Well, at least YOU will only be in a cell for a short amount of time when you visit the Justice and Police Museum in Circular Quay!
It's at this fascinating museum that kids can see what life was really like in the late 1800s for both the police, and the criminals.
It's a fun, interactive experience so kids can really learn through experiments and hands-on fun, giving them a really immersive experience.
At The Justice and Police Museum, kids can put their parents in the dock, or bang them up in a real 1890s jail cell! What do you think it will be like? It might make you realise how lucky you are when you only get sent to your room, kids!
The museum also features vast archives of prisoner memorabilia and photographs, plus recreated period rooms and features, so you can really start to build a story around the people and the names that would have walked on the very floor you are!
You will meet bushrangers, and gangsters, and other folk who called Sydney home.
For those thespians in the family, you can even play out your own courtroom drama in the 1890s court - order! order!
It's worth bearing in mind that they warn some displays are unsuitable for young children, please do ask at the time and they will tell you which areas you need to avoid. Things like the confiscated weapons are pretty gruesome, but if you stick to safe zones it's still enjoyable for hardy youngsters.
Object, your honour - overruled! We order you to just have a fascinating day out!
