Fire Services Museum
Australia's largest collection of fire fighting memorabilia offers over 20,000 related items and vintage appliances for perusal.
The Metropolitan Fire Brigade headquarters at Gisborne Street and Victoria Parade, East Melbourne, is one of the Fire Services Museum of Victoria's most significant collections of fire-fighting memorabilia. It is dedicated to safeguarding and exhibiting fire-fighting items from Victoria and around the world.
Volunteers run the museum today, each with a unique background in fire services; Some being former and present members of Fire Rescue Victoria, the MFB, Country Fire Authority (CFA), Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI), and many other fire-related organisations, for example.
Visitors are also welcome in the restoration workshops where the exhibits are restored and maintained. There are fire fighting demonstrations and other special events worth noting held throughout the year.
