Where are we going today?

Step back into the Old West... where men and women were as raw and untamed as the country around them. Hero and heroine, outlaw and lawman, cowboy and schoolmarm, indian and mountain man-they all became part of the legends of the West. Opened in August 1999, the Old West Wax Museum is a unique blend of history, folklore and folk crafts. Its appeal is timeless and ageless. More than 50 life-size wax figures in 20 Western frontier historical dioramas Original historical maps from 1760 to present illustrate Western development National newspaper etching and stories from 1860 to 1910 show how journalists and newspapers influenced ideas and myths of the West. Artifacts and information-see the voyageur cruiser that traveled 2,700 miles along the 1825 route of General William Ashley from Wyoming to St. Louis-see the elegant European frontier saloon backbar that came over the mountains by wagon train-and more!

I've visited this museum three times over twenty years. The museum has always been appealing from the outside. However, there is one set of figures that have been there forever as has the dust that covers them. I really don't think it would require that much of an effort for the staff to take a soft brush attachment on a vacuum and clean off their product. But no. They've left the same dust covering the same figures for twenty years. This gives the museum the appearance of being a tourist trap income source for the owner who keeps his costs...Read More

Great place to check out.. I as well don't understand why the bad reviews. We go to St. Augustine frequently and finally went on a weekend to check out, and it was really cool. They have a lot of real time celebrities, and my BF loved the Tiger Woods replica.

Costs a lot for what you get. Not worth your time.

This gives the museum the appearance of being a tourist trap income source for the owner who keeps his costs to a minimum by leaving his museum unstaffed with the exception of a few college students who work part time at the ticket counter. My advice is that you should save your money for the Orlando attractions (i.e., Disney and Universal). Maybe if more people did this, it would force Potter's Wax museum to at least bring in a cleaning crew once in a while.
