The popular city resort on the Spanish Costa Del Sol is renowned for coastal bliss, vibrant nightlife, and luxury living. Despite being so infamous for attracting younger crowds wanting to experience a more indulgent trip than traditional younger group holidays, Marbella can provide just as much for families craving a Spanish affair. Read on for five fabulous family days out in the region.

Puerto Banús

For glitz and glamour, the marina resort of Puerto Banús is the place to be. Spend evenings soaking up traditional Spanish culture and indulging in tapas, after spending afternoons leisurely ambling along the marina to admire luxury yachts and devouring the lining shops, cafés, and restaurants. The younger ones are sure to be amazed by the wealth of indulgence within the surrounding waters, and the older ones are bound to be impressed too! Enjoy the beach, which is composed of both sandy and pebbles for a soft surface that meets crystal-clear waters. From sandcastle building or swimming to simply lazing beside the picturesque resort. The town is home to many high-end shops that cater to the whole family; pick up some indulgent take-home souvenirs guaranteed to impress those back home.

For a paradise of fun for the children, be sure to add Puerto Banús Adventure Park, where adrenaline-obsessed can let loose on extensive zip lines, climbing, and other outdoor activities suited to a wide range of ages in youngsters. Why not even get the children involved in your hobbies? The region is home to several gold courses, which offer a wealth of both challenging courses and lessons for the younger ones to get involved in. Take a family-friendly boat tour from the vibrant marina and uncover the wealth of marine life to be marvelled at. Even as incredible as dolphin-watching tours, you’re all guaranteed to struggle to dim the smiles.

The Golden Mile

Another premier region that stretches between Marbella and Puerto Banús. On the Golden Mile, picture a luxe coastline made up of incredible properties, designer boutiques, and five-star hotels. Stroll through upscale residential communities, known as home to some of the world’s most rich and famous influences. The Mile is home to family-friendly stretches like Playa de Marbella. Equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, and beachfront resorts, making it the perfect place for enjoying traditional sunshine days by the sea. Embrace beach clubs that can cater to all, with many even encompassing kids’ clubs with educational fun and activities.

Relax in the gardens, home to playgrounds, shaded areas, and open spaces for picnics. Parque la Constitución is phenomenal for being so well-kept, so the perfect landscape for picnicking and relaxing around nature all together. While the luxury scenery is so sublime, sometimes all you need is a picnic rug to perch on and just sit around bonding over novelty chit-chat. The park features an array of Mediterranian plants, flowers, and trees that are equally sure to wow.

Marbella Town

In the heart of the Marbella region, the Old Town aligns traditional Spain with the contemporary luxury of modern-day life in the city. Start your day at the Plaza de los Naranjos, the old square that’s lined with whitewashed buildings homing cafes and eateries intertwined with spectacular orange trees. Amble the narrow cobblestone streets and let the children browse through local craft stores, while you indulge in the local coffee culture next door. The older ones will enjoy the Museum of Spanish Contemporary Engravings, to see an impressive collection of modern-day Spanish art to inspire budding artists and creatives among your family.

Create a home-from-home and stay in one of the incredible luxury villas in Marbella. To escape the lively tourist scene in hotels and spend restful nights in the most serene hub, it won’t get more quaint than a villa stay. Whether the kids want to embrace early morning dips in a private pool, or you want to eat home-cooked meals well after the sun has set, enjoy the freedom and flexibility this kind of holiday can give.

San Pedro Alcantara

San Pedro Alcantara

Just west of the main Marbella town, San Pedro Alcantara is known for its more laid-back scene to atmosphere compared to neighbouring resorts. With a population makeup of both Spanish nationals and expatriates, expect a relaxed international feel here, guaranteed to intrigue the children. Embrace historical exploration at the Roman Baths, which showcase the significance of Roman times on the region and the remains of the 4th-century Christian Basilica Vega del Mar. Treat everyone to traditional snacking of churros and chocolate from a local delicacy and then pick out a luscious restaurant along the boulevard as the sun sets. The town is renowned for its array of annual events too, so why not research the huge array of festivities on offer and plan a trip around these to immerse you all?

East Marbella

On the quieter side of the main Marbella resort, the east side stretched through several residential communities, blissful beaches, and natural beauty. Consider staying in Elviria, as this is popular with relocated expatriates and tourists, with a wide range of luxury villas, apartments, and holiday homes to call home for the duration of your stay. Let the nature enthusiasts roam free and delight in the protected natural area of sand dunes, Dunas de Artola. There is also a phenomenal pine forest nearby idyllic for walking and picnics. Explore the small but lively Cabopino Marina, dotted with a few loved restaurants and trattorias. Grab a quick lunch, and people watch all together under the shade during peak sunshine hours. A delightful day of serenity all together.
