About Gingerbread cookie day / Pepparkakans dag

Join us for a delightful celebration of Gingerbread Cookie Day, known in Sweden as Pepparkakans Dag! This festive event takes place on December 9th and was first instituted in 1996 by Annas Pepparkakor to promote this beloved holiday treat.

At the Scandinavian Cultural Center, you'll have the opportunity to unleash your creativity at our gingerbread cookie decorating station. For just $3 per cookie, kids and adults alike can adorn their cookies with colorful icing and sprinkles, crafting their own unique holiday masterpiece.

To further embrace the holiday spirit, indulge in our traditional rice porridge, a Scandinavian favorite. Choose your topping: a sprinkle of sugar and cinnamon with a splash of cold milk, or sugar and cinnamon with butter. Don’t miss the fun of finding the hidden almond in the porridge—find it and win a special prize!

Alongside these festive treats, enjoy saffron buns, hot glogg, and our regular menu offerings. It's a day filled with warmth, joy, and culinary delights that capture the essence of the holiday season.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 9th, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Supplies are limited, and no reservations are needed, so arrive early to ensure you don’t miss out on the fun!
