Very nice zoo considering the budget constants it must be under. My daughter and I really enjoyed ourselves. Would recommend it to any family wanting to take their kids out for the day.The picture of the albino tiger was taken by my daughter (Hannah).

This is a very small zoo, not professional, but good for a walk. The Zoo is not well kept, smells like fecies ,and the fencing facilities that keep the animals are small, very old, and not up to code which is a violation of public safety. The zoo owner needs to save up some money visit Baton Rouge, New Orleans ,and Houston Zoo’s to get an idea of what up to code for public safety is because this Zoo can be easily shut down. Another thing is when you see the snakes exhibit there are dead rat bodies displayed for feeding ,and young children are openly exposed to see the displayed dead rat bodies along with their parents. This Zoo should be given a chance to bring it up to a professionalism ,or be sued for the lack of public respect , and safety violations. I don’t like walking in a zoo where I feel like the tigers , leopards , and lions could possibly break out , and hurt someone. There are even exposed easy access to sneak around the back of the facilities which I witnessed kids trying to pet the first lion that is at the entrance. Way to dangerous!Take my review into consideration when you plan to visit.

We love our zoo in Lafayette ! Very shady walk-ways and plenty of areas to just sit and relax . All areas are well maintained and animals always seems ready to put on a show ! Train ride is broke down but I am sure it will be fixed soon .

I love this zoo! I had the opportunity to chat with some of the keepers and you can tell they really care about the animals here. It IS a much smaller zoo, so it’s not as grandiose as some zoos in bigger cities, but if you think about it many animals have small territories even when in an open space so although the enclosures seem a bit small, they are still adequate for the animals. I have been to many zoos, and you can tell when the animals are distressed, the animals here seem very happy. The only animal I felt was in a bad situation was the Long Horn Steer. He seemed to need a bit bigger of a space, and perhaps a mate! I otherwise really enjoy coming here and taking my nephew to run around. The “Zoo Live” animal show is a lot of fun! I highly recommend checking it out if you are there when they have a time scheduled. This zoo may be small, but it is well worth a visit, and a beautiful place to see!
