The 1692 Salem Witch Trails are one of the most iconic historic events in the entire country, so if you're going to learn about them, why not REALLY experience them!
Don't worry, you won't really go on trial! The Witch Dungeon Museum is one of the most exciting experiences in Salem, and let's you travel back to 1692 as you listen to live re-enactments of the trials - with costumed actors actually reading the words from the historical transcripts!
How amazing is that - it might feel like you ARE actually there! You will hear all about the names and people who really were affected by the trails - from the Reverend Parris' daughter Better, to Abigail his niece.
What do you think it took to have that sort of trial and punishment? Some children barked like dogs...others would have fits on the floor. There were some strange goings on in the village!
The trails have gone down in infamy, however they actually only lasted 13 months in total. 156 people were accused, and 19 were actually hung...just to name a the nicest form of punishment!
They have continuous shows all day!
After you have seen the re-enactments, the Witch Dungeon Museum gives you the chance to actually tour the dungeon yourself! The museum lets you explore a recreated village and Gallows Hill. If you're in the area around Halloween, you might find some extra haunted happenings occurring!
Spooky!
An amazing way for kids to learn about the history of Salem and the witch trials. It might not be suitable for super young kids, but other kids will love the fact it's all based on a true story!
