Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live during another era? If you visit Waveland State Historic House, then you might just get a great idea!
Waveland State Historic House is a beautiful Antebellum home, with three original outbuildings still standing - the slave quarters, the smokehouse and the ice house.
Waveland was completed all the way back in 1848, by the grandnephew of Daniel Boone, and it shows you a way of life that has long gone in the area. As you walk around on your tour, kids can use their imagination to see how it might have felt, and the people they might have met!
To experience this beautiful attraction, there are guided tours which focus on the everyday lives of the family and slaves who once lived, and worked, right between those walls!
The Waveland tours let you in on all the treasures of the house, as well as teaching kids the history of slaves, and slave life.
Being a part of history is the best way to learn, and at Waveland history is all around you!
Once you have finished the tours, there are colorful gardens and flowers for you to enjoy, and you can even enjoy a picnic lunch on the lawn, or at the nearby picnic tables. Really make a day of it!
Keep an eye at the events that happen at this historic home too, as you might get to participate in fun experiences such as Tea Tuesdays and art fairs!
