Voyageurs National Park is a stunning national park right in the heart of the North American continent. Here, kids can touch and explore rocks that are half as old as the world itself! They can immerse themselves in the atmosphere, sounds and sights of a boreal forest, and even experience a dark sky.
This amazing national park has been described as a "mosaic of land and water" - and this water event makes it way right up to Hudson Bay (that's pretty impressive!). The landscape in Voyageurs National Park was formed by volcanos and earthquakes millions of years ago, and more recently glaciers. In fact, the most recent glacier was just over 10,000 years ago (kids - in geological terms that's not that long ago!)
Make sure you bring your camera because you might just come across some of the amazing wildlife that lives there! From moose, wolves, black bear, and beaver....and don’t forget to look up...what's that? It's that iconic bald eagle!
But of course there are activities too at this beautiful park! There are ranger-led programs where you can learn more about the park by canoe trips, hikes, and even guided boat tours!
The park also has amazing hiking trails that are accessible by boat and vehicle, so anyone can really explore the Northwoods.
If you want to extend your family day out there are over 270 sites in the national park - so you can still experience the wilderness!
And don't let winter put you off - there are plenty of snow based activities that you can participate in too - what an adventure!
Plenty of outdoor adventure in this national park for you!
