Did you know that Voorhees State Park isn't JUST a park? Nope! In fact, there is some history to this New Jersey outdoor adventure playground.
You see, Voorhees State Park served as a camp for the CCC - that's the Civilian Conservation Corps - which was Franklin Roosevelt's program during the Depression for people to be able to work. They planted trees, built picnic sites, constructed shelters and even built trails throughout the park. Pretty amazing!
So as you're walking around this incredible park, think about the stories of those that created it what it is today. Amazing!
Now back to the adventure - and what adventure there is to have!
If you love to explore the great outdoors, there are 7 trails perfect for all ages and abilities. These trails are perfect to explore different landscapes, and try and spot that local wildlife!
Did you know that Voorhees State Park also has an observatory? Now you do! The 26" Newtonian reflector telescope is actually one of the LARGEST privately owned telescopes in the entire state, and families like you can explore the night sky through the various sky-watching programs they are offered throughout the year.
With an adventure playground for those active kids, and winter sports including cross-country skiing and sledding, this fun state park isn't just for the summer - it's all year round fun!
Who's feeling adventurous!?
