An extension of the Pioneer Museum Complex, the Vereins Kirche Museum is actually on the original site of the Pioneer Museum, and plays an incredibly important role in the history of Fredericksburg, and German heritage within the region.
The Vereins Kirche was actually built soon after the arrival of the first German settlers in the region, and today stands as a tribute of the courage and vision of the town's founders.
Not only that, the Vereins Kirche was the first public building in town, and over the years has served as a town hall, a fort, a school, and a church for all denominations.
The original building was actually demolished in 1896, but local citizens rebuilt it in 1935, and today stands as a symbol of the community, centrally located in the Marktplatz.
Once inside, you can explore exhibits that will introduce you to the stories of Fredericksburg's past. These exhibits rotate, so you can always go back and learn something new and fascinating about one aspect of the town's history.
A fascinating addition to any day out at the Pioneer Museum Complex, to further your living history experience in the fascinating town of Fredericksburg!
