Kids, if you had to guess what you will learn at The Printing Museum, what would you say - we're pretty sure you'll take a good guess! The Printing Museum of course, takes you on a journey of the history of printing, and allows you to explore how it affected and influenced art, history and technology.
The collections within the museum are filled with antique printing presses, prints and historic newspapers, and rare books, all giving you an opportunity to experience the way people have used printing techniques over time, to transform our lives.
Think about it kids - the books you read at school, the magazines you buy with your favorite movie stars in them - have all been PRINTED!
You can read about advances in printing and publishing, and how with each successive technological innovation, a greater exchange of information occurred!
Kids can explore illustrated manuscripts from as early as 3000 BC, through early Asian printing in the 8th to 19th centuries, and even an original Pennsylvania Gazette published by Benjamin Franklin in 1765!
From 20th century Xerox machines, to the Heart empire, and even newspapers with important historical headlines (such as the sinking of the Titanic), The Printing Museum really sheds some light on such an important part of society's development, and will make you think about printing in a whole new (and appreciative!) level!
