If you love the bright lights of Las Vegas but have seen all those iconic hotel signs along the strip, then The Neon Museum might just be for you!
The Neon Museum was founded in 1996, and is an incredibly cool and unique musuem that collects, preserves and exhibits iconic and historic Las Vegas signs!
Not only that, The Neon Museum collection documents the fascinating changes and trends in sign design as well as technology through their pieces ranging from the 1930s to the present day.
It really is like a walk back through time!
Your time at The Neon Museum can be spread around the various areas - these include the outdoor exhibition space known as the Neon Boneyard, as well as a visitors’ center housed inside the former La Concha Motel lobby, plus the Neon Boneyard North Gallery which is home to additional rescued signs.
Each sign within The Neon Museum’s collection offers a unique story about the personalities who created it, as well as what inspired that particular sign, where and when it was made, along with the role it played in Las Vegas’ distinctive history.
This main area within the museum is the Neon Boneyard, which contains over 200 unrestored signs which are illuminated at sunset with ground lighting, which makes quite an impressive sight! In addition, you can see a number of restored signs which are on all the time, so you don't have to wait until sunset to start enjoying the show!
Keep an eye out for the special events they host across the year too!
A great way to see the signs and learn about the history is to take one of their guided tours (also offered in Spanish too!). You can take a 45-minue tour of the main Neon Boneyard, or grab tickets for the "Brilliant! Jackpot" night experience in the North Gallery where they illuminate unrestored signs and incorporates music and archival footage to transport guests into Las Vegas’ history.
So light up your time in Vegas even more with a visit to the Neon Museum! It's one of those places you just have to visit to believe!
