About The Montgomery Zoo

Did you know that you don't even need to leave Alabama to delve deep into the South African jungles, or explore the hilltops of Asia? You don't even need to leave Montgomery to venture the tall grasses of the North American plains, or go on safari on the plains of Africa.

You just have to travel to The Montgomery Zoo!

The Montgomery Zoo is where the whole family can meet over 500 animals, which come from all corners of the globe. Here, they can roam in natural, barrier-free habitats too, which means they are happy and healthy, just like they would be in the wild!

Across 42 acres, The Montgomery Zoo lets families go on a journey with exotic wildlife as well as endangered species, giving kids not only amazing animal experiences, but also those invaluable lessons on conservation.

Kids, have you ever wanted to watch those cheeky chimps play, or see those majestic elephants in their heads? Perhaps you want to see how you compare to the height of a giraffe, or try and spot those hippos?

You can make a stop down under with those red kangaroos, or admire the alligators of South America. Don't forget to check out the pythons from there too...if you're brave!

Kids might even meet animals they have never heard of before, like the Kudu!

The Montgomery Zoo also has amazing experiences for you, giving you the chance to go behind the scenes at the zoo, or watch the animal feeding sessions, or keeper talks to give you that little bit more insight into these amazing creatures.

Did we mention there was a petting zoo too, AND a mini train? Oh, and let's not forget those pedal boat rides in summer!

There is also the Mann Wildlife Learning Museum with a collection of large animals on display, so you can feel some of the furs!

So much more than just animal fun in this Alabama capital! Let's get WILD!
