There is so much history to be explore at the historic Molly Brown House Museum. Not only do the exhibits accurately portray the story of Margaret Tobin Brown within the context of her lifetime, but the museum is a reflection of turn of the 20th century Denver.
In fact, it was during the 1880s that a lucky few made millions in the mountains, as well as in the railroads, and of course trade, resulting in the relocation to the prestigious Capitol Hill neighborhood.
In 1894, the Browns bought the property, and spent the best part of three decades making it their own.
Of course, today most people know Molly Brown as "the unsinkable" following her survival of the Titanic tragedy.
Her story, along with the story of the property, is today shared in the museum through various exhibits, and it really does make for a fascinating journey - to learn the real story behind the famous name "the unsinkable Molly Brown" and of course mining magnate James Joseph Brown.
When you visit, you can choose between a self-guided tour, or the guided tour for just a couple of dollars more.
The guided tour features a walk-through of the fascinating house, which includes 16 rooms across 3 floors. You can viist the elaborate golden entryway designed to impress the Browns’ guests, and even see the impressive library with floor-to-ceiling bookcases.
Have you ever wondered what Molly Brown's private sitting area and bedrooms would be like? Or wondered where their servants lived and worked? With furniture, clothing, accessories, and artwork, all piecing together the life and times of Mrs. Brown, this Denver museum really is well worth a stop.
In 1970, Historic Denver actually saved the house from demolition! Just as well they did!
