History is amazing, and it's even more amazing when you realize some of the history from an area you know. The Kentucky Museum looks at the history of just South Central Kentucky, which is fascinating!
The museum collects, preserves, and exhibits Kentucky artifacts, and shares them in collections and exhibits that your family can then enjoy. Good thing they do that then otherwise what would you do for your family day out!?
It's great for parents too because kids are educated as they spend time looking at all the items and exhibits.
A lot of the exhibits are rotating, so make sure you keep an eye out so you don't miss out on an exhibit that you want to experience. Some of the permanent exhibits include Instruments of American Excellence, which features objects used in everyday life, by people who have achieve extraordinary things. One example is a hammer. A hammer you ask? But this is a hammer that was used by President Jimmy Carter to build houses for the homeless - pretty incredible!
A great inspiration for kids to achieve great things!
There are exhibits on the travel that local Kentuckians have achieves, including grand tours of Europe in the 1880s, and trips to Africa, or developing schools in Asia. There are exhibits on history, and exhibits surrounding art.
There is even an exhibit for those music lovers on an iconic guitar maker who was accepted into the Hall of Musical Instruments - there are some inspirational people in Kentucky and the whole family can learn all about them and be inspired.
Maybe one day your family will be in the Kentucky Museum!
