Have you ever wanted to life on a farm? If so, have you ever wanted to live on a farm in 1891? Don't know what it would be like? Then just head to Heritage Farmstead Museum to find out! This fascinating Texas experience has been carefully researched, and the interiors of the buildings restored to how daily life would have been on a prosperous family farm in North Texas Blackland Prairies. The two-story Farrel-Wilson home was built in 1891, and through very well preserved exhibits, you can experience this home and the outbuildings as they would have been between 1890 and 1925. Jump on the tours that they offer, and you can really feel like you were there! The outbuildings is an ongoing experience, and were built in the 1890s and early 1900s. There is a sweet potting shed which was used in the same way we use greenhouses, and was also used to store gardening tools and pots. The kitchen garden is 1/4 acre of crops which, kids listen up - children would have helped maintain these plots! Can you imagine getting out there to help the mother collect produce to create dinner (her duty was to put three meals on the table!) The Heritage Farmstead Museum also has a carriage garage, a blacksmith shed, and a curing shed. This would have been used to process and preserve meats and salt and lard.  All together now...YUUUUM! There is even an exhibit of the one-room school house.  Kids - can you imagine what would be different to a school in 1895, to where you go to school today? We imagine it would be pretty different!  So get ready to step back in time at the Heritage Farmstead Museum - it’s a fascinating family day out!
