A history filled day out at the Conrad Mansion Museum in Montana, which dates back to 1895 and is considered a treasure of NW Montana!
What's great about your visit to the Conrad Mansion Museum is that the grounds and gardens are free and accessible to the public-year round, however you can pay admission to enjoy a self-guided tour around the mansion, or a guided tour run by docents to really give you an indepth experience of the mansion, family and history!
The mansion all started when a man named Charles E. Conrad (who was actually a founder of Kalispell) arrived in the Flathead Valley back in 1891. Conrad had vision, and along with establishing the Kalispell Townsite Company and eventually the Conrad National Bank, he had a gracious Victorian home built for his beloved family - and that is what you can explore today!
What's also amazing when you visit, is that you can see original family furnishings located throughout the 26 rooms (including three bathrooms) giving kids an amazing sense of what 19th century life would have been like for someone like Conrad.
The docent led tours offer a deep dive into the Conrad Family’s history, and kids can learn fascinating facts about the Mansion’s nooks and crannies, along with the Conrad family’s impact on the state's history.
Docent-guided tours are limited to 40 people per group and last about 90 minutes.
The Self-Guided tours are ideal for those on a time crunch or who prefer to learn at their own pace. You can spend as little or as long as you like exploring this beautiful and innovative Victorian home.
Keep an eye on the special events the Conrad Mansion Museum run throughout the year!
