Who's ready to learn a piece of history? Kids - we see your hands up!
Back in the late 1500s, there was a Spanish watchtower that stood in St. Augustine - giving us the site of the oldest, permanent aid to navigation in North America. Then, in the late 1800's, a new structure was built, giving us the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum.
The Lighthouse is St. Augustine's oldest surviving brick structure, and today the site is restored to colors and materials used the year 1888 - so you can see a glimpse into it's amazing past.
The St. Augustine Lighthouse rises 165 feet above sea level and contains 219 steps that are climbed by families just like you - just imagine the views!
Kids really can learn all about the history with the historic 1876 Keeper's House exhibits, and also come face to face with artifacts from real shipwrecks!
There are also super fun things to do with the kids at St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum!
They have Tiny Clues Interactive Archaeology Activity at 10am and 4pm daily, as well as a behind the scenes history, shipwrecks and boatbuilding tour a number of times a day!
Those active kids will also love time in the shipyard play area, and for those active families you can spend some time in nature enjoying the Maritime Hammock Nature Trails
Top off that experience with a super spooky Ghost Tour or a Sunset/Moonrise tour if you want to really make the most of your experience!
History really does come to life at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum!
