Did you know that the Springfield Science Museum was founded all the way back in 1859, and opened to the public in 1899? Think of all the families that have created memories and enjoyed learning experiences over those years!
When you enter the world of Springfield Science Museum, you are surrounded by the wonders of natural and physical science, with permanent collections to educate and entertain.
The African Hall highlights the diversity of Africa and its peoples, with a host of impressive mounted animals to marvel at. Kids can see the grand elephant up close, check out the cheeky warthog, and even see a spotted leopard!
Explore what makes up our planet in Earth Hall, home to a collection of fine mineral specimens (including a meteorite!), and of course, what would a science museum be without dinosaurs!
This gallery is dominated by a life-sized replica T-Rex, as well as a replica of a Stegosaurus, and actual fossils of dinosaur tracks that can be touched!
For those animal lovers in the family, there is also a live animal center complete with fish, reptiles, amphibians, and insects in realistic natural habitats such as the Amazon rainforest, the colorful coral reef, and the charming New England harbor!
Don't miss a visit to the Seymour Planetarium, which is actually the OLDEST operating Planetarium in the entire nation!
So get ready for a day of discovery, science, wonder and of course - FUN!
